Cinder kicking back

Hi Debbie. I haven't sent anything to you lately on cinder. Here she is kicking back with dad watching tv. We just came back from a four day horse show. Cinder really loves our new living quarters trailer. There is so much more room for her to play and sit at the table looking out the window. Soon we will be off to nationals where Sierra will compete for the gold medal in dressage, hunt seat and western pleasure. She is also competing for youth of the year. ~ Karen

Waverly's in the news

At a dog show a few weeks ago a local newsperson took some photos of Waverley and my boyfriend waiting ringside. I tracked down the article and thought I'd share.

CHAMPION Black Diamond Front Runner

Zoey finished her Champion title today at the Mt. Hood Dalmatian Specialty in Canby Oregon. First, she was Best in Sweeps for the 2nd time this year, then finished the day by winning her 3rd major to finish her title. Zoey is now our youngest Champion and the holds the title for going to the fewest number of shows before earning her title. All of this from my puppy who Adrian kept saying I'd never be able to show her because she is so heavily marked!

Now we'll start working on her Grand Champion title.

"Trail" in oil

Our daughter Meagan is an artist, and she has been juried into several art shows this summer.  I'm attaching "Trail," her painting of Trail, as she tries to become known as an artist of pets and wild animals.  She has already been approached about selling this oil.

Trail has been on the race track w/ Chuck as he prepares for a marathon in September.  They run several miles a week w/ at least one 10-12 mile outing per week.  Of course, Trail goes much farther w/ his up and back checking on Chuck!  I am trying to do more biking but I can't take Trail on the road for that, and his sad eyes just kill me when I have to leave him home!

Lexi's bike ride

this is right before she went for the bike ride. Does it every time Pat takes her...LOL

Btw.....she still sleeps with us in bed and is STILL a bed hog. We have a KING bed and it feels like a double when she hogs the bed.

I guess here daddy doesn’t bike fast enough for Little Lexie

The Grand Canyon

On our way home from Tulsa, OK (at the National Dalmatian Dog Show); Zoey, Willow and I as well as our two traveling partners stopped into the Grand Canyon to get a few photos of the dogs. As usual, Zoey was the most photogenic.

Ti in Jefferson

Ti had his semi-annual ultrasound yesterday and he passed with flying colors. We are going to have ultrasounds performed annually from this point forward. I'm really glad I was able to find a solution to the stone problem without resorting to Hills U/D.

He had his annual wellness exam yesterday as well and our vet said he looked great. I've attached a pic of him taken during a short hike in Jefferson this past December. ~John

Cinder's nap

We went for one of our long walks in the park after we had driven to scio for a horse lesson earlier in the day so she is now taking a nap in front of the warm fire place because we wore her out. ~ Karen

CAT Video

I spent my evenings this week working on creating this video to help share what a C.A.T. is. The stars in this video include Izza, Kester, Krash & my friend Jordan. Kester is an "all american" dog (mutt) who belongs to Jordan and Krash is Jordan's liver spotted male Dalmatian.  If you will be anywhere near Walla Walla April 28th & 29th I encourage you to give this a try, it is well worth the entry fee to see your dog run and have a great time! ~ Deb

Waverley makes it to #2

Waverley was in 2 shows the last couple of weeks. She got a Gr4 and BPIG (Best Puppy In Group) on Feb 18th and another BPIG on Mar 2nd. She's the #2 Dalmatian puppy in Canada now! She is looking great and everyone always comments on how gorgeous she is. ~ Amy

Zoey's big win photo

This photo is from January 18th when Zoey won Best In Sweeps at the Mt. Hood Dalmatian Specialty in Portland Oregon (and just arrived). This was her first big show (we showed for 3 days in Puyallup, WA just prior to this show - but those were tiny, warm up shows compared to showing at the Expo Center in Portland). She did great for only being 8 months of age! Zoey also did a great job of upholding our "Family Tradition" of winning big at this specialty show.

2006 Jazz was Best Of Winners
2009 Willow was Best In Sweeps
2010 Bow was Best In Sweeps & Best Of Winners
2011 Sky was Best Of Winners

Lexie burns up the snow

Our first snow. We got about 6 inches. Took Lexie to the dog park (since she and Pat can’t ride the bike). No other puppies there. ~ Lori

Zoey's first Sweeps

Zoey did fantastic today. I showed her in the 6-9mth puppy class in the Sweeps. She won her class, then went on to be picked the best "Jr. puppy" and then finished up by winning "Best in Sweeps"!! We have now officially won more than our 'fair share' at the Mt. Hood Dalmatian Specialties over the years. In our regular class (shown above) Zoey received a 2nd place in her class; but then Willow went in and saved the day by getting a Select Bitch out of a very tough field of girls. It was a long afternoon/evening, but very satisfying! Now we can say that Zoey is officially a Show Dog. ;)

Let it snow!

We finally are getting some snow. Last year we hardly had any. Cinder is having a blast with Sierra on our deck. ~ Karen

Cinder picks up her new horse

Well we are just heading back from grants pass with our brand new bouncing baby boy "Aranaway Dante". He is a 6 year old Morgan horse that has never been ridden. He is 16 hands tall. He is a very big boy. Cinder enjoyed the ride down and had a great time playing with all the dogs at the ranch we were at. We will see if cinder and the new baby will get along as well as she does with our other two horses. ~ Karen

Clearly Ringo

Ringo had his vaccines and a check up yesterday. His vet does a urine test as part of the exam, and I'm happy to report his urine was clear, pH ok and no problems there. He does have an issue with needing his ears cleaned, and she has suggested we start every other week. I believe part of the problem is that Ringo and Mozart chew each other's ears every day, but anyways, if it doesn't clear up we may need to look into food or environmental allergies. I think it's just Mozart's dog saliva. He weighed 54 pounds and doesn't seem fat or anything, but she didn't want him to gain any additional weight. Samantha is here in NM with Olive for a visit. The three of them have been having a good time playing. Olive got to go to the vet with us yesterday because she had another tick bite despite being on a monthly preventative. They both kind of stole the show in the vet's office.

Hope you're doing well.

Waverly hits the snow

Hope you had a good Christmas and a happy new year! Waverley is doing great. She's a big suck and isn't too fond of Winter. She's doing better now that she has good coat (but still didn't like the -26 degree C weather we had last week). Here are a few pictures I took yesterday. Her favorite thing to do is catch snowballs when we throw them. ~ Talk soon, Amy
